Surgical and prosthetic implantology

Implants are the biggest revolution in dentistry in recent decades. In the 1960s, Swedish professor Per-Ingvar Brånemark discovered that titanium had the ability to be biologically and functionally incorporated into bone, following a strictly aseptic surgical and prosthetic protocol. Brånemark called this discovery "osseointegration" and radically changed the course of dentistry and many fields of medicine. Today, osteogenesis is a very common practice used to rehabilitate patients with serious problems.

The advantage of replacing lost teeth with implants is that we do not have to grind healthy adjacent teeth to support the bridges and eliminate the need to use removable dentures, making people feel aesthetically and functionally perfect. It also stops the unsightly absorption of the jaw bone, which is responsible for the aging the appearance of the face.

Implant treatment safety

Given the thorough preoperative examination, our 20 years of clinical experience and internationally documented bibliography clearly show that treatment with dental implants is safe, with very high success rates. Maintenance requirements for patients include adequate oral hygiene with brushing, using interdental brushes and dental floss twice a day. Re-examination and cleaning at the dental office every six months is also necessary. The examination includes a clinical and -if necessary- an X-ray examination.

Immediate dental implant loading

One of the most important therapeutic applications in implantology is immediate dental implant loading. In the right conditions, i.e. sufficient amount and quality of bone, sufficient number and size of implants, as well as absence of inflammation, we can place the teeth on the implants in a minimum of time (24 hours). The patient can chew soft foods immediately.

In order for implant loading to be successful, it is essential that the dental team has extensive experience, knowledge and excellent collaboration. At our clinic, we use immediate dental implant loading where required, with the same success we have with conventional loading. During immediate implantation and loading, the patient's postoperative course is usually painless and oral and aesthetic function is restored within 24 hours, so the patient can return to normal life very soon.
